Who knows, maybe Weir, would make the same decision if the opportunity ever presented itself. But for now it's football for Weir, the county's leading receiver last season. -That's the sport Auburn wants Weir, who caught the ball 38 times in 10 games for 847 yards. He averaged 22.2 yards per reception and scored 11 touchdowns for the Pirates.
He was the county's second-leading scorer. Football is the sport Auburn, formerly a rushing-oriented program; told him he could see playing time in his freshman season. "They didn't make me any promises," Weir said before going off to sign on the dotted line at his parents' home. Fish the rocky points with live shrimp and split shot Also, try the rock islands just outside the Crystal and Hornosassa rivers. Cast silver or gold spoons on incoming tides. On the Atlantic Coast fish the dropoffs around the spoil islands for redfish and seatrout in the Indian and Banana rivers.
Use live shrimp or grubs for best results. Reds are scattered In the Oak HrH area. Fish the grass flats and dropoffs with live -shrimp or spoons. Some big drum and sheepshead are hitting shrimp in that area around Markers 9, 13, 14, 15, 73 and 75. Redfish haveiurnished the most action at Sebastian Inlet the past few days.
Most of the action on the outgoing tide is at the north end on the inlet side. Use live or dead shrimp and lead to get the shrimp down, Use split shot to 34-ounee weights, depending on the current. A-few black drum are hitting in the inlet and a few scattered whiting, pompano and blues are hitting In the surf on clams, sand fleas and cut mullet. Bottom fishing boats out of Daytona Beach and Port Canaveral have been catching some grouper and snapper when they can get offshore. Fresh Water: Fishermen are catching a Duke's mixture at Kissimmee's Lake Tohopekaliga.
Anglers fishing the deep holes along the City's lakefront are catching lots of speckled perch, bluegilis and largemouth bass. Two 14-, pound bass have been caught the past few days. One vvas caught on an artificial hire and the other on a live shiner. Spinnerbaits, plastic worms and crankbaits are getting bass while speckled perch go for live minnows or minijicja (green is a good color). Bluegills are hitting live crickets and redworms but seem to favot crickets.
Shellcrackers are hitting worms. Cold weather could slow the fish tempo-. rarily, but they should continue to hit as the weather warms. Fish from the city pier all the way down to the third launch ramp along the lakefront in downtown Baas and speckled perch could be going on the beds in many area lakes with Friday's full moon. Also, the females will feed before going onto the beds to spawn.
Some lakes in the Orlando area also are yielding some good catches of speckled perch and largemouth bass, including Lake' Underbill, Turkey Lake and Lake Conway. Speckled. perch and bass are moving closer to shore. Many Specks are being caught in 5- to 8-foot water. Many of the bass are ripe with roe and-are being caught along the shore in lily pads and other cover.
